Andie Petoskey has recently been generating 40 to 50 leads a day in her MLM business, primarily using Facebook Pay-Per-Click.  She is doing this on a part-time basis, and is a corporate executive complete with MBA degree.  Andie is planning to go full-time with her primary company in the near future.  She had never used Google PPC.  On a recent webinar, she shared several tips she’s learned over the last six months.  She has revised her strategy from that posted last July on her blog.

Andie suggests rotating ads, when click-through ratios drop, in order to minimize “over-exposure.”

Why Facebook PPC?

  1. It is a very simple strategy.  The toughest part of the strategy is getting your ad approved, and often depends on the time that an ad is submitted.  She suggests never using the term “MLM” in ads, and finds that submitted ads on weekends often gets better results (approval).
  2. There are over 500 million users on Facebook.
  3. It is inexpensive.  Andie previously has spent high dollar amounts buying leads lists, which turned out mainly to be “tire kickers.”  She started with $10 and now spends $40 to 50 per day, using only cost-per-click.
  4. The leads are targeted.  Her Facebook leads are targeted people who are unhappy in their current MLM, and their particular “likes” including company products.
  5. It runs on “auto pilot,” although Andie suggests monitoring the click-through ratio and rotating ads, in order to minimize “over-exposure.”

There are three parts of setting up Facebook PPC:  the ad itself, an optional sandwich page, and the lead capture page.

MLMRankings.com can be used to find popular companies in the industries to be targeted.

  • The ad consists of a Title, the Body Text, and an Image.  The most important part of the ad is the image.  Since the ads are extremely limited in the number of characters, Andie suggests adding text to your images.  She  cautions against using company logos and products in ads.  She has been contacted on occasion to stop ads if infringing on company trademarks and copyrights.  MLMRankings.com is a great source for researching network marketing companies, and she also researches specific countries in which the companies are doing business in order to decide where to run her ads.  She also suggests using Facebook’s internal resources (e.g., tabs on fan pages) for better ad approval and often gets better approval on weekends.
  • The sandwich page shares value, building a relationship with your prospects prior to sending them to the lead capture page.  Andie has been using pages on her blog, which has greatly improved her Alexa ranking as a side benefit.  She has also used Facebook fan pages, targeting specific network marketing companies.
  • Andie uses MLSP’s lead capture pages in her campaigns.  Her favorite page is the Free Seminar, which converts at 15%.  She also uses pages on her blog for lead capture, simply customizing for each network marketing company she is targeting.  She gets 80 to 90 percent phone numbers using her blog lead capture pages.

Andie uses a generic Facebook account for running ads.  This minimizes the possibility that her main account would be canceled if there are problems with ads.

Andie suggests setting up a different Facebook account for running her ads,  to minimize the possibility of having any problems with her main Facebook account.  My Lead System Pro features additional Facebook and Twitter training in the back office.  Please visit our capture pages to request further information on automated MLM lead generation.

In today’s economic climate, the idea of recruiting professionals such as realtors and mortgage professionals for your network marketing business has become more interesting and profitable than ever.  Todd Falcone is the leading proponent of focusing on this type of prospect and personally uses this focus in his own business. He “walks the walk.”

The first step toward opportunity is awareness.

Prospecting and exposure of your business is both the single most important aspect of network marketing and the aspect feared by most.  Todd’s Fearless Networker training squarely addresses this issue.  Todd also believes that his method is particularly well suited to the Numis Network business opportunity.

Todd’s formula for “getting good” at network marketing starts with your fundamental belief.  Todd’s friends and parents initially made fun of his network marketing efforts.  He know lives by the statement: “Let your beliefs be the shovel that buries your fears forever.”

Let your beliefs be the shovel that buries your fears forever.

If you’re new or lacking success in network marketing, you have to represent confidence despite your own “missing” achievements.  How can this be done?  Todd believes that you must ask yourself a few questions and his a high level of belief about the “profession” of network marketing.

  1. Do people make money in the profession of network marketing?  The industry is 70 years old, involving 35 million people in the US alone.  Don’t hesitate when people ask if what you’re doing is networking marketing.  Todd’s reply is always “Absolutely, and if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t touch it.”
  2. Do people make the kind of money I want to have in my life in MLM?  Todd used to sell cable TV door to door and came to the realization that his sales manager wasn’t making much and that he was on a path that wasn’t going to take him where he wanted to go.
  3. Do people make money in the company you’re in?  If yes, you can now confidently represent your company of choice in the MLM industry.  In one of Todd’s prior companies, a distributor with a 6,000 person organization was making only $500 per month.  Maybe this wouldn’t be a company to focus your life efforts on.

After answering these three questions, you’re ready to confidently start recruiting.  Todd has been using a particular style, based on this type of confidence for the last 10 years.  He has been involved in every conceivable type of lead generation system on the market today.  Due to the lack of prospects from “traditional” sources, he decided to call a realtor from an ad in Homes and Land magazine.  He soon discovered that what you say is as important as the way you say it.  After three calls and two “yes, I’m open to looking at something outside of what I’m doing,” he realized he was on to something.

Where is the best place to find prospects in your own back yard? If you have a car and a phone and have driven past a “for sale” sign in the last 7 days, did you actually pick up the phone and call the realtor?

What are the most effective scripts that Todd is using?

  • I was just driving by your listing here in _________.  I’m an entrepreneur and love working with sharp people.  I’m expanding one of my companies in the local area.  I just have a simple question for you.  Do you at all keep your options open in terms of earning income outside of what you presently are doing?

Do you at all keep your options open in terms of earning income outside of what your are presently doing in your profession?

Todd does this consistently in his local area, recently signing up a State Farm Insurance representative in his business on first meeting.  The first step toward opportunity is awareness.  The path of least resistance in network marketing is often to take the easiest possible path.  Many new people spend their time talking to their “broke” friends, often hearing the worst in skepticism.  On the other hand, a “professional,” hearing an initial investment of a few hundred dollars, typical in network marketing are more often than not, open to a good opportunity vs. coming up with a multitude of objections.

Using Todd’s methods can result in an immediate stream of “free” leads for your business.  What are the commonalities/types of professional people that your should be approaching?

  1. Their primary jobs are prospecting, selling, interacting, and relating with people.  These people are already doing what network marketers do.
  2. They are paid the way network marketers are paid.

Todd’s methods can be used in conjunction with attraction marketing methods online of offline.  To view our sales funnel for network marketing professionals, please visit our MLM Lead System Pro landing pages.

David Wood recently interviewed Burke Hedges, author of Who Stole the American Dream.  Burke  began his entrepreneurial career in 1986 selling cellular phones, but was  out of business by 1988.  By age 25 had made $1 million, although it had cost him $1.2 million.  He decided he wasn’t a business person, but a mentor coached him in network marketing.  Since he was teachable and coachable, he became extremely successful in the industry, over the last 23 years.

Burke became an ambassador for the truth of the opportunity available through network marketing, and a best selling author.  He has sold 4 million books in 20 languages.  Now he endorses Numis Network, as the only company that the average person has a chance to make an income today, thereby being able to cure the prevalent malady of “brokeness,” now rampant in the USA.

Today, Burke wants to help as many people as possible become millionaires.  He believes that with the type of technology that is now available, via the Internet, especially that the opportunities are greater than any time in history.  Although he didn’t initially understand the Numis Network opportunity,he now believes that he is alleviating financial sickness in the country.

If you want to make God laugh, just go ahead and tell him your plans.

Burke Hedges is well connected with the top leaders and earners in the network marketing industry today.  Although the particular product is always important, a unified vision and purpose is usually part of the core of big success stories in network marketing.  It is consistently true that when you help other people to achieve their goals, a huge organization results.  Every company in the industry has come out with a product that dominates as a result, based on community and a “big cause.”  People want to be part of a winning team.

People want to be part of a winning team.

Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe both died early without helping many people.  Burke believes that the network marketing industry is worlds apart from what many consider “worldly success.”  “Cause marketing” is what builds community, big teams in the network marketing industry, and a true sense of accomplishment not available any other way.  Those that get on board this train will be “unstoppable” in the business.

When enough people get the vision, the rules of the game change.

Burke wants to work with people with the desire to change their financial circumstances.  Success in network marketing requires that a person truly “stare down” fear and generate belief, or faith.  The good news is that once you’ve done it you have a new skill, being able so solve any financial issue in your life that would arise.

Burke also believes in lifelong learning.  He has personally transcribed all of David Wood’s training CD’s in order to be at the top of his game as a network marketer.  This, despite the fact that he is an author who has sold millions of books.  If you have the skills to earn money in this industry, no one can take that away.  Some sacrifices may be necessary in order to reach the level of success you want.  His grandfather packed up two kids from East Hampton, Long Island and moved them to Havana, Cuba, where he built a vast textile empire.  It was all taken away when communism took over.

Losing everything doesn’t have to happen to an entrepreneur in this country who has the skills to earn his own way.  One of the greatest things about the training available to network marketing distributors is that it changes their lives in ways that can’t be taken away.  The skills they develop will serve and support them no matter what happens.

Many people struggle to combine multiple marketing efforts in their network marketing business.  This is primarily due to the fact that people are generally trained in only one particular recruiting method.  David Wood, who is primarily know as the most explosive network marketer in the Internet marketing world (but also a highly successful traditional MLM recruiter), recently shared his recruiting tips with his mastermind.  Here are some tips that will allow you to increase your percentages in recruiting from different sources of leads?

    • Warm Market – Who are they?  Specifically, these are the 20 to 30 people in your life that trust you and would help you at any time of the day or night, e.g., you could call them to help you when your car broke down.  As long as you haven’t irritated them by pitching them on 5 deals, you should definitely want them.  The approach that works 99% of the time is the “Will You Help Me Approach.”  Ask them if they would do you a favor by reviewing your company presentation.  Do this authentically and don’t try to recruit them, unless they express interest.

Ask your warm market contacts to “do you a favor” by reviewing your company presentation.

        • Casual Aquaintances – These are all the people outside your close friends that you know and who know you by name.  These people have to be approached “casually.”  The best way to expose these people would be using the medium via which you know them, e.g., use the Internet for your online contacts.  These people should be approached on a “needs” basis.
          • Business Contacts -These are people you have done business with.  They must be approached in a “business-like” manner, using “do you keep your business options open?,” or similar question.  Todd Falcone’s scripts for recruiting professionals is excellent for approaching realtors, mortgage lenders, etc. even on a cold-call basis.
          • Internet Contacts – You need to be constantly present in unique ways and create a lot of content.  Keep in mind that you are recruiting people to a business relationship, which takes more nurturing than most Internet marketers are accustomed to.  You must be authentic before people will “like you” as you authentically are.  Once you are building a list, you need to email these people every day with some valuable content and the “triangle of exposure.”  This incorporates phone, email, and postal mail contacts.  On a daily basis, if you will “learn, do, and teach” you will have valuable content to share with your list.

Every day focus on the following in your business:  “Learn, do, and teach.”

            • Heavy hitters – This is the person you “dream” about getting in your business.  These people will come to you once you are successful, e.g., Cedrick Harris specifically sought out Ray Higdon when he joined Numis Network.  Most of these people will enter your business only if you’re consistently in the game and building an organization in depth.  They will “pop-in” in your 10th level, or so.  Everybody knows somebody who knows a “heavy hitter.”

If you never give up, you WILL achieve the success you want in network marketing.

Many people want to specialize in one area in recruiting new team members in their network marketing business.  But why would you want to avoid a certain category of prospect?  The approach is the key, depending on the context in which you know people.  For further information, visit our attraction marketing training system or network marketing landing pages designed for Internet recruiting.  The bottom line is to never give up if you want to reach your dreams and the success you deserve.

Ron Gelok recently shared some of the marketing approaches/scripts that he uses on Facebook via an informative webinar with Amy Neal and Jessica Peretti.  He shared the main 4 approaches he uses along with accompanying scripts, primarily on Facebook (but these approaches obviously would work in any context):

              1. How have you been affected by the economy?  “Hey this may or may not be for you, but are you open to making extra money in this economy?”  is an approach used and taught by Ray Higdon.  Another one would be “Hey I don’t know if this would be for you, but are you open to checking out a side project to make extra money?”
              2. Opinion Respect – “You obviously are a very sharp guy and know what you are doing when it comes to your business (honest compliment).  I recently started my own business and I was hoping you could do me a favor.  Could you take a look at what I’m doing and just give me your honest opinion on it?  It would mean a lot to me.
              3. Attraction – When someone asks about your positive posts in social media, e.g., Max Steingart’s approach of “I’m ready to help 5 more people make a fortune online.”  “This may or may not be for you, but you’re welcome to check it out.  What’s your number and I’ll give you the info.”
              4. Hail Mary Pass – “Hey just throwing it out there.  You’re not open to making extra money from home are ya?”

Once you get a yes to any of the above, just say:  “Great, what’s your number and a good time to chat?  Mine is XXXXXXXX.”  Then after the call, set a follow-up time based on the answer to the following.  “Hey how soon can you take a look?”

Here is a script for the actual phone conversation:

              Hey John!

Make small talk for about a minute or two to build some rapport by asking about them, the weather, sports, books, or what you have in common.

Here’s what I’m going to do.  I’m going to send you a little video with information about my business.  It gives you everything you need to know.  How soon can you take a look?

Great, I’ll give you a call afterwards to see what you think.  Keep in mind this may or may not be for you.  Sound good?

Here is the close when following up:

              What did you like best about what you saw? {Don’t talk}

How would you build this business?

How serious are you?  Is this something you want to do with me?

              If questions, then 3-way call with your sponsor or leader in your company. {Don’t try to answer questions yourself, so that your prospect will be able to envision doing this process himself.}

This brief webinar provided some excellent tips and suggestions as well as very specific scripts that can be used when prospecting, either online or in your local contacts sphere.  One of the main things to keep in mind is that Facebook exists for social interaction and direct prospecting attempts will be viewed negatively, possibly resulting in cancellation of your account.  But if used in the context of legitimately making friends and communicating with people, a natural progression to include people looking at your business is completely valid.  For further information and tips, you may check out the excellent session on Facebook Secrets provided by Facebook expert Jim Chou.

David Wood recently held an online session, dressed as Batman,  to “explode the myth” that it isn’t possible to recruit anyone during the holiday season.  A team member mentioned this “objection” and over the last week he set out to prove them wrong.  As a result he recruited 10 people, which is the normal amount that he recruits despite the “season.”  How can anyone do this and have the same result?David Wood's training of recruiting 1 person per week in MLM business

The first step is to realize that recruiting is easy.  If it’s easy, then why do people run into the same objections from everyone they prospect?  In particular, David never seems to run into the “typical” objections as his team members.  The main issue can usually be traced directly to the team member having the objection and “projecting” it on their prospects.  In reality, only 17% of people are truly skeptics about anything.

Second, for most people, the next step is to become a leader, stop making excuses and commit to simply recruiting consistently:

              • Part time – Recruit a minimum of one person per week, no matter what it takes and get them started well.  This should not take more than 8 to 10 hours per week.  David’s method is to use his “Game Changer”audio tool, distributing at least 15 weekly, from which it’s almost impossible NOT to recruit 1 person.  The goal of this is to have a “profitable” business model, which allows you to pay for products, attend events, cover your expenses, and still be profitable.
              • Full time – Once full-time, you need to recruit 3 to 5 people per week with no excuses.  This will take 30 to 50 hours of effort.  The reason you need to do this is in order to have an answer to the inevitable question: “How much money are you making?”  The bottom line is to talk to 45 people to recruit 3 or 75 to recruit 5.  This boils down to talking to 15 people daily as a full time network marketer.

When David started his latest Internet/network marketing effort, he focused on four activities:  marketing, talking to people, getting people started, and making presentations.  He was spending 10 to 15 hours each day in these activities with the full realization that his efforts would produce the success that he needed to initially establish his own credibility in the marketplace.

When just starting, or as with most who are not yet successful, a support organization is needed.  Why is this?  The reason is that credibility only comes after having demonstrated and proved your own success.  No one has this when first starting out.  The mastermind team that David has setup and additional support from Ray Higdon provide the credibility, support and training that his team members need with new prospects.

David believes that no shortcuts exist in building a network marketing business.  The hard work and time must be invested, backed by a solid belief in the network marketing industry, your company and products and your own talents.  For additional information on David Wood’s incredible Internet recruiting system, visit our MLM Lead System Pro overview to request access to David Wood’s Internet methodology.

In a recent webinar, two of the most prominent “rock stars” in both Numis Network and My Lead System Pro shared their personal top earner formula.  David Wood is the #1 recruiter in both Numis and MLSP. Ray Higdon & David Wood Ray Higdon is the #1 earner in Numis and top MLSP recruiter.  Obviously, both David and Ray are passionate about the network marketing industry.  And both are also strong believers in a particular product and business opportunity represented by the Numis Network.

How have these two been so successful in both recruiting and teamwork?  David is very well known as the top internet marketer within the network marketing/MLM niche.  Although many on the Internet operate using the philosophy of recruiting as many as possible with the hopes of a few learning the path to success on their own, both David and Ray operate from a “different” mindset.  They are more about building a team and supporting their team than some in the attraction marketing industry.  This explains their phenomenal success and the amazing growth in their businesses.

David and Ray believe that the choice of “vehicle” is crucial to their success.  First, what are the choices available in the network marketing industry?

              1. Cosmetics & Skin Care.  Most of these companies operate on the party plan which makes it more difficult for men to be involved, thus limiting its appeal to business builders.
              2. Nutrition and Weight Loss.  Obviously this is the staple of network marketing.  Issues include competition from retail outlets and the plethora of companies in the network marketing industry.  Recent economic conditions have put pressure on distributors as their customer bases have dwindled.
              3. Household Products.  Usually these companies don’t make sense for autoship, so distributors typically “stock” products for delivery to their “customers.”  Most business builders don’t want to get involved with these details and prefer a “hands-off” autoship product.
              4. Technology Products.  These products have some significant benefits.  ACN, for instance has 2.5 million representatives and is the longest lasting network marketing company in existence.  Typically the pressure for continually lower pricing and diversity of sources make it difficult for network marketing companies to last long term.  For instance, when long distance pricing fell from $.60 to $.04, many companies couldn’t survive.  Commodity products with continuing price increases due to inflation are better in the long run.  Also, technology companies are constantly fighting with Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc.
              5. Services: Financial, Travel, Discount Programs.  A prime example is Prepaid Legal, which sells a monthly $36 product and has created some big fortunes in this space.  Travel companies face a complex sale and poor retention, e.g., about 15%

Why is Numis Networks and numismatics a good choice for network marketing?  First, this is a new product category in network marketing without many of the objections present in more typical companies.  The numismatic industry is a $100 billion industry, featuring a product, gold and silver, that  no one ever has too much of.  Additional information about the Numis Network are available in the detailed company overview and replay of the David Wood/Ray Higdon webinar.

In network marketing, a two step process is very effective when used to introduce prospects both to the concept of home business ownership as well as the details of a particular company’s products and services.  This process involves the use of standard tools, such as CDs and DVDs, to ensure that it is duplicatable for a large team and the message is delivered consistently and as effectively as possible.  The most successful distributors in network marketing have all used this process.

There are several reasons for the success of this method.  First, prospects are over-exposed to marketing and advertising and quick to avoid an obvious sales pitch, and a sales tool can ease their fears.  Using a tool provides an effective “door-opener” for prospects who are working overtime to find any excuse to avoid any sales approach whatsoever.  Also, up to seven or more exposures are usually needed in closing any sale.  The first step of the process is using a quality business tool to open your prospects to listening to what you have to offer vs. saying “NO” without any exposure whatsoever.  Here are the steps in the process:

              1. Open People to the Message – There is a reason that the most successful distributors in network marketing reached the position of success and leadership.  They understand that people are busy in their lives and generally won’t take time to attend a network marketing business presentation.
              2. Follow-up to Schedule a Full Presentation – This can be a company meeting, an in-home meeting, a webinar, or a one-on-one business presentation.

There are several rules to keep in mind when exposing people to any opportunity using a tools approach:

              • The less you say, the better.  One method is to always give the tool at the end of any meeting, vs.  the first part of an encounter.  In this way you can minimize the possibility of being “grilled” by a prospect vs. exposure via your quality tool.  Remember, the prospect’s will be looking for any possible reason NOT to look at your information.
              • Plan exactly what the next step in the process will be.  Once your prospect has been exposed to the initial tool “opener,” be prepared to book them for the next upcoming company presentation, whether it is a hotel meeting, webinar, etc.

The network marketing industry is based on relationships first and then solving specific customer needs with a particular product of business opportunity.  In practice, most distributors seem to operate with assumptions often used in telemarketing sales, where closing attempts are made on the first contact without first establishing a relationship.  In addition, the tendency to “explain” the business before the prospect sees a full presentation is almost always a fatal mistake.  Additional mlm exposure tools and training are available using our MLM prospecting system

Many leaders in network marketing today teach their teams that the Internet and other online recruiting doesn’t work effectively, while still sending them out to shopping malls, and gas stations to find prospects.  Of course their brute force  methods work, but generate extremely high attrition rates. Today, Facebook has over 500 million users and MySpace 263 million.  And, it is now possible to use social networks to build a worldwide business, rejection free, never leaving home.

The demographic and personal information about people in these social networks alone is staggering.  Search tools provided enable marketers in almost any industry to easily identify hundreds of targeted prospects for just about any product or service.  If it works for regular business, why not MLM?  In fact, network marketers have already started using Facebook paid advertising to generate high quality MLM business leads.

Although the 3 foot rule has been used effectively in network marketing for over 75 years, there have also been many networkers successfully recruiting teams online since the days of America Online over 15 years ago.  Now with the easy availability of all this demographic information at your fingertips, why haven’t more in network marketing “broken the code” on the social networks?

We believe that today’s networking “professionals” have been very poorly trained, and are trying to market on social networks with a clumsy and almost dangerous approach.  Most, in fact are trained in the use of “elevator” speeches, which they’re supposed to quickly deliver in order to generate leads for their business, and have imported these techniques to Facebook and MySpace.  The problem with this, especially when used in the context of social networks is this behavior is nothing more than spam.    Whether used in elevators, or on Facebook, people have become very resistant to these approaches.    And,  MySpace considers it a violation terms which will quickly get a person’s page canceled.

So what is the answer?  Can the social network sites provide a good source of MLM leads?  The answer is a resounding yes, according to Facebook and Myspace expert Max Steingart.  His training has produced top earners in many different network marketing companies.  His methods teach a low-key sales approach, modeled on the basic concepts of Dale Carnegie and others, which are based on first creating genuine relationships with prospects.  People buy from people they know, like, and trust.

Many network marketers have realized the new gold mine of prospects that is now at their fingertips.  Many people wrongly assume that Facebook, MySpace, etc. are great places to start putting links for their business opportunity and/or presentation.  When contacting people and making new friends it is important to realize that initial conversations should be focused on the prospect, never sharing your business unless you determine they actually need what you offer.

You’re not looking to make a sale every time you meet someone.  You’re looking to see if there is a sale to be made.  The only process that really works is for the prospect to “self-identify” themself as a prospect for your business and/or products and services.  It is important to listen more than you talk, and ask questions to discover how you can best help them.

You must put your own agenda aside and engage in conversation with the prospect.  The most successful sales people are good listeners.  You want to discover three things before sharing your opportunity:

              • Is there a problem to be solved?
              • Do they have a need and desire to change?
              • Do you have the right solution for them?

The degree to which a person’s motivation and commitment to change is present is in direct proportion to the amount of discomfort they feel about their present situation and will determine their openness to your solution.  Do they want and need what you have?  Most of the “no’s” you get are because you’re trying to impose a solution on someone before you know a need exists.

All the sales cliches are false, e.g. “every no is a step closer to yes.”  Most of the time, sales people have elevator speeches and are using manipulative questions to get the answers they want.  This usually raises a “red flag” and leads to an automatic “NO.”

In the traditional sales model, closing questions are used before qualifying a prospect, e.g. ” If I could show you a way to make big money working part time from home, would you be interested?”  Then qualifying questions follow, e.g. “  If you saw the opportunity and had the funds available, how soon would you be able to begin.”  This is commonly used in telemarketing, and is being taught to most network marketers as well.  The success ratio is extremely low using this method .. maybe 1 out of 200.

The relationship selling model begins with establishing a relationships and then asking questions.  Then new questions are formed based on the previous answer you get.  During the process, you can decide whether even to continue based on the answers you are getting, which can save you time.  Unfortunately, most in network marketing are being trained in traditional methods which are not as effective in communicating with your online prospects.
