Ken Michaels started in Internet marketing in 1993, after realizing he hated selling.  His area of expertise is developing systems to automate the lead generation process using social networks.  His specific area of focus is creating Facebook pages for small businesses.  Finding clients using specific online tools and automated systems is his expertise.Facebook 4.74 Degrees of Separation

Just 5 years ago, most businesses were interested in getting websites setup and leveraging Google through SEO.  In the last few years, social media started to take over, led by Facebook and YouTube.  Today, most people are obsessed with Facebook, where 4.74 is the new “degrees of separation.”

There are several easy ways to generate Facebook fan page leads including:

  • Manta – This is a directory of small businesses, which categorizes businesses by company revenue.  According to consultant Ken Michaels, targeting businesses under $1 million can have an advantage of ease of contacting the decision maker.  In addition, these businesses often hire-out specialists for specific tasks such as  marketing online, since they really only have time to run the day-to-day operations.

  • Yellow Book – In this directory, businesses are listed according to the level of advertising that they currently own:  Gold, Yellow, or Blue.  The ones to target are the ones already spending money on advertising.  In addition, businesses that have paid Yellow Book to create a video can be selected (Note:  the videos that have been produced are very poorly done, including a promotion at the end for Yellow Book!).
  • Social Bakers – This website is a directory of Facebook pages, including the number of fans, and complete details on every existing Facebook page.  The best target businesses are those with between 100 and 300 “likes.”  This is the point where most fan pages “die off.”

Developing leads in an automated fashion can be done with automated systems.  FB Cash Accelerator leverages Social Bakers to generate thousands of leads, in minutes, including contact information when available, applications used, and if the Facebook page has been claimed by the owner.  In addition, a full contact manager is included, including support for virtual assistants and outsourcing the lead generation.

Austin Walsh is a successful 19 year old Internet marketer in Chicago.  He has been an entrepreneur since age 15 when his Dad bought him $400 worth of equipment to start his career as a DJ.  For New Year’s eve, he created a Facebook event, expecting 200-300 attendee at an event, however with 2700 attendees registered the owner informed him he’d only get paid $500.  Austin decided to try to find an alternative venue in Chicago with only 72 hours notice.  With only 24 hours notice he changed the venue on Facebook and not a single person showed up at the original location.

At this time he found out that his Dad was a seminar speaker.  He joined as a speaker on the circuit, but didn’t forget about his Facebook experience and soon started a business in marketing online.  Today he is passionate about the possibilities and future of marketing online using Facebook.  His 6 Figure Incubator program, iSocial Academy, teaches a systems approach to Facebook marketing.  His client list includes very well know speakers, e.g., Les Brown and others, for whom he still manages Fan Pages.

Austin has the following suggestions for Fan Page Branding:Les Brown and Austin

  • Use a picture of yourself (or a personality in your business) vs. a company picture.  In a test with Mark Victor Hanson, a personal picture was “Liked” 4,000 times more than a business picture, e.g. one of his book covers.
  • Use favorite Fan Pages from key figures congruent with your business principles.  This will result in a lot of content for your page from notable people.
  • Do a weekly video.
  • Use a customized Fan Page which includes a welcome tab and opt-in form to capture subscriber emails.
  • Be an E.A.P.  This stands for extremely active poster.
  • Brand on an international platform.
  • Have a Fan Page launch.  Give rewards to people who help you build a following.

In addition, Austin uses continuity program levels.  Nano continuity, priced at $9.97 per month or less, provides a good entry point for small business “gold” club members.  Major continuity would contain more content, priced at $97/month and $27/month as an intermediate offer.  He also uses video tagging with great content to advertise his “brand,” to about 50 people at a time.  He also uses text mesaging and Facebook’s code of 32665.

Although Austin appears to be one of the most capable marketers in the Facebook realm today, he believes that any business that wants to survive will need to eventually get online.  And especially to get on Facebook.  For those in the network marketing space, we highly recommend the training offered by My Lead System Pro pertaining to Facebook.

On a recent MLSP weekly webinar, Ray Higdon shared his secrets in recruiting for his MLM business using Twitter.  Ray was a real estate investor prior to starting in network marketing.  Ray Higdon was a party animal in high school. He was broke and miserable, due to the downturn in real estate in Florida.  Ray is now the top earner in his primary company and can be called a social media expert due to the fact that his blog is ranked in the top 38,000 worldwide for traffic.  Ray, who describes himself as a high school party animal in his high school days, has been involved in the network marketing industry for 4 years.  He believes that if a former party animal can be successful in network marketing, then anyone can do it and “it is never too late to live out who you could have been.”  You just need to be hungry enough to really want it.

“It is never too late to live out who you could have been.”

Why Twitter?  Twitter is currently the 10th most visited website in the world.  When viewed as another fishing pole in the water, why wouldn’t you have it set up?  Learning how to manage it is guaranteed to produce leads and generate income in your life.  Ray’s advice is to simply do what others are not doing, e.g., most are marketing products vs. sharing useful information.  Ray’s Twitter page stands above the crowd, since he does the later, primarily.

Ray’s advice is NOT to automate your tweets, although you can automate your direct message, etc.  Ray highly recommends using SocialOomph, which can be used to automate following those who follow you, direct messages of new followers, notification of mentions/messages, and to manage unlimited accounts.  90% of marketers are using a sales page in their automation, which will causes many to unfollow them and never talk to them again.  Ray recommends, rather than sending your favorite link, send an automated Facebook invite, since Facebook is the #1 place to do marketing online at the moment:

You’re Cool :p – Connect with me on Facebook – http://www.Facebook.com/ray.higdon1 – Love Connecting with cool peeps!

Ray’s Twitter page stands above the crowd, since he primarily shares helpful information.

Ray’s daily plan of attack is based on the fact that discipline trumps talent.  Ray sees talented people all the time who are lazy.  He believes that with a disciplined approach, his strategy absolutely will work in the long-haul to generate very large checks.   Ray does the same routine each day, beginning around 4:30 am, regardless of how he feels, the weather, etc.  His daily plan of attack is as follows:

Discipline trumps talent.   Ray sees talented people all the time, who are lazy.

  • Read, comment and retweet 10 MLM or marketing blogs per day in your niche.  A tip Ray uses is to be the first comment, which generally gets the most notice.
  • Search out and follow 20 MLM leaders on Twitter per day.  Twellow.com and search.twitter.com can be used to find these people.  Ray recently found and enrolled a million dollar earner in his company using this method.
  • Get 2-5 people to tell you NO to your opportunity per day.  Afterwards you can pitch them MLSP.  Ray believes that if you don’t have a funded proposal, you are missing out on a lot of cash.   If you own a muffler shop and someone comes in needing tires, you can just send them down the road vs. being an affiliate with Johnny’s Tires down the road.  He normally leads with his MLM opportunity, unless the prospect is highly radioactive about their own company at the outset.
  • Create one piece of content per day (blog, article, video, etc.).  Does this mean Saturday and Sunday?  How hungry are you.

Ray Higdon’s MLSP webinar gave not only some great insights and secrets in a unique social media automation method, but some of the best advice for any marketer, whether using online methods or not.  Ray’s strength admitedly comes from his incredible discipline and drive.  To learn more about My Lead System Pro, visit our landing page to review the opportunity and opt-in for our free attraction marketing training series.

In this article we discuss the concepts of attraction marketing as they pertain to social networks.  Although the strategy used isn’t the classic attraction marketing approach of making a compelling offer in order to capture email address/build a list, etc., the concepts are similar.   Instead of a free report or training offer, the “bait” is your profile and interaction socially with prospects.  So, to get started, you need to set-up your pages on Facebook, and/or MySpace, etc.  Then determine what strategy you want to use.

There are three types of pages on the social networks:

  • Total commercial for one’s business – This type of page is viewed as a salesperson trying to sell something. This may lead to spam complaints when trying to connect and isn’t recommended.
  • Part personal, part business – People will communicate with reservations, waiting for the page owner to hit them with their sales pitch.  A better approach but still not recommended, unless you are already a 6-figure earner or better.
  • All about you, no business – Magnetically attracts people to you.  This is the recommended approach.

There are three ways to brand yourself:

  • As someone happy and/or wildly successful – This is the best strategy, even if you are at one of the ladder’s bottom rungs at this point, e.g., just getting started.  One way to leverage this method is to post motivational messages on your profile at least a couple times daily.  What quotes and authors have helped you in your life?  Share these things with your network.
  • As an expert – Also a good approach, but requires some expertise and credentials already in place.
  • As a successful network marketing professional – Limits you to only those already in the network marketing  industry.

Once your pages are created and/or adjusted for your particular strategy, then begin connecting with old friends and making new friends.  Use a memory jogger list, similar to those found in any network marketing training course to “remind” yourself of the people you know.  If you’re not familiar with network marketing, you can just use the Yellow Pages categories to remind you of people to add to your network.

If you’re in network marketing, you probably don’t want to listen to the trainers in your company.  That is, especially if they’re advising you to be aggressive in approaching your social media friends with an “elevator” speech.  This is what all the amateurs are doing, and it won’t work.  Rather you need to question them conversationally to determine a need in their life for your products and/or business opportunity.  The rule is never to approach anyone without first determining their need.  If done correctly, your friends will ask you what you do, believing that it was their idea for you to share information with them about your business and/or products.

Further information and social networking strategies are available in our attraction marketing system including Wednesday evening webinars (see opt-in box at right), and  a recent Facebook training course by one of the most successful social media experts today.

In this article, we provide an overview of the various sources of leads for MLM or any business model using the Internet. To do this we’ll take a look inside one of the leading attraction marketing training systems on the Internet, My Lead System Pro. Within this training system are contained many great suggested marketing methods, lead sources, tips, techniques and tools for the serious online marketer. Here is our overview:

  • Facebook/MySpace/LinkedIn – The largest social media sites are excellent, representing  millions of possible leads for your business.  These sites have many excellent tools for marketing, including profiles of millions of people who are perfect candidates for your business offerings.  The new Advanced Search functionality on Facebook, as well as MySpace’s more extensive search capabilities can quickly locate members of groups, geographic proximity, age, and other demographics to quickly identify prospects most likely to be your prospects.
  • Video Marketing – Videos on YouTube can be one of the quickest ways to develop viral content.  Video marketing not only can be used to publish your informational content to hundreds of highly-ranked sites, but also creates backlinks to your primary website or blog.
  • PayPerClick Marketing – This is a paid strategy using Google, Yahoo, and Bing paid ads.  This strategy requires advanced training and should be entered carefully, since it can quickly get expensive.  It can also be the quickest way to generate business leads.
  • Blogging – This is a core strategy, especially with WordPress.org self hosted blogs which are popular in personal branding for marketing purposes and easy to get quickly ranked using search engine optimization.  This blog is an an example of using blogging strategy and is ranked for many keywords, although it has only been in existence about 8 months currently.
  • ListBuilders – Special paid memberships can both attract a following for your personal list as well as provide an opportunity to send your ads to thousands of other subscribers each week.
  • Ezine/Solo Ads – Ezines, or electronic magazines, offer the ability to include your ad, or devote an entire issue to your offer.  A solo ad can sometimes generate over one thousand leads from a single blast to the list.  The advantage of this method, is that the list is pre-qualified and receptive to your offer, if carefully chosen.
  • Forum Marketing – Many high-profile marketing forums exist on the Internet, such as Mike Dillard‘s Better Networker, the Warrior Forum, freelancemom.com/forum and others.  High quality content can be published in these forums including your signature file.
  • Content/Article Marketing – Hundreds of online directories of articles exist which accept short articles from 300 to 1,000 words.  Most allow the inclusion of two backlinks, e.g., to your blog and funded proposal/squeeze page in exchange for the content you provide.  Submitting duplicate content can be minimized and the submission process automated using tools such as Automatic Article Submitter.

The Internet offers a rich environment for the professional marketer,  including many excellent tools to automate the process.    When getting started, it is recommended starting with one method and perfecting that before moving on to additional methods.  Further information is available in the My Lead System Pro marketing system and training.

In this article, we specifically discuss social media and a strategy for attraction marketing.  How can you attract customers and if you’re a network marketer, business partners?  Not surprisingly, the best advice comes from going back to basics and using timeless advice from classics such as Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

Attraction marketing on Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn and other social media sites is best done following a specific process of making friends.  We’ll use the paradigm of network marketing to explain this strategy in more detail, but the same concepts apply to any business model.  We’ll also use Facebook as the main example, although most concepts apply to other social media as well.

The first thing to realize is that Facebook is meant for social interaction, rather than business building.  That, however is not a problem, since the underlying strategy is first making friends.  So in this regard, Facebook is perfect.

Since Facebook is not for business building, any reference to a business or products you sell should not be present on your page.  How many marketers violate this principle?  Nor should your profile contain links to your company’s business website.  You should also not have “Likes” related to your company or products.  Does this sound like different advice that you have been getting from your network marketing company itself? How is their “advice” working for you so far?

Next, you need to do something to attract interest to you on a daily basis, such as posting a generic motivational video.  In addition, social media guru Max Steingart recommends using a catchy status, such as “Jim Green is ready to help 4 more people earn a fortune online,” and just change the numbering every day.

Then try to connect with old friends and/or invite them to join Facebook, while looking for new friends with similar interests on a daily basis.  The Facebook advanced search feature can quickly locate potential people that might be prospects for your business.  You are then in control of exactly you “invite” as friends and who you attempt to develop a relationship with.

Then when someone accepts a friend request from you, or you accept a new friend that requested you, develop a relationship first and attempt to qualify the person BEFORE trying to share your business or products with them.  Also when someone comments or asks about your daily status, you can assume they’re attracted to you and possibly a candidate for your business.  Only share your business with qualified prospects who express a need for what you can offer them.

We highly recommend Max Steingart’s Endless Free Leads course, bootcamps, and coaching for further information and assistance with your direct marketing strategy.
